"My name is Nyoman Suarjana and I was born in Bongkasa on January 1, 1968. Graduated from SMA (senior high school), I couldn't continue my study into higher levels although I wanted to. It happened because of the family economical condition. As farmers with eleven children, my parents couldn't do much for our education. At that time, being able to eat three times a day was good enough for us. Reflecting on my family condition, I was dreaming of having a small family with a wife and two or three children, to give them a proper life and place my children in good schools to become educated people in their future life.
"My uncle, Nyoman Punduh, was the one who brought new color into my life. In 1989, he asked me to work with him and taught me how to make art works from silver. When I had enough money, I told my uncle about my desire to open my own art shop. Unexpectedly he agreed and lent me his tools so I could concentrate on silverwork right away. Thanks to him, now I can produce various kinds of jewelry made of silver, and make my dreams come true. I have a small family with a wife and three children. Two of my children are studying in elementary school and the last one is a two-year-old baby. My silver jewelry has been in exhibitions at the Balinese Art Festival in the Denpasar Art Center in 1999 and 2001."
