"I was born in a Balinese village as the second of four children. Ketut Darna is my father's name and my mother is Made Rastiti.
"When I was in elementary school, my uncle, Wayan Darsa taught me how to make silver jewelry for almost a year. My father is a silversmith and has joined a group of silversmiths in our village, which aims to preserve and develop art and silver craft there. However he never wanted me to work on silver before I finished school. 'Focus and finish your studies, and then you can be whatever you want to be,' said my father. But his ultimatum couldn't stop me from learning silver craft in my spare time.
"After graduating from high school I continued my studies in East Java, majoring in architectural technique for almost five years. Back to Bali in 2002, I tried to find a job in this field but never found one. Tired of being jobless for almost six months, I decided to help my parents in our art shop and started creating new designs, which I continue to do today."
