Sourabh Mehta

"Hello, I am Sourabh and I was born and raised in Delhi. I studied at the Air Force Bal Bharti School, where I was educated in a strict and disciplined environment. I learned there the importance of work ethics, punctuality, and fair dealing in every sphere of life.

"Since childhood, I have always been inclined to do something on my own. I was a creative child, and though no one in my family is involved in the field of arts and crafts, I was keen on pursuing this field.

"While studying for a Masters in Business Administration from Wigan and Leigh College, UK (Delhi campus), I got the opportunity to meet a lot of people who worked with handcrafted products. I became enthralled by the sheer artistic diversity that India had to offer, and it inspired me further to pursue this realm.

"When I finished my Masters I went on a six-month exchange program to London, where I got the chance to meet and interact with people from different cultures. While in England, I realized Indian art was very popular, and I became all the more convinced that this was the field for me.

"So I started a small workshop when I returned home. At first I started crafting small scale items like candleholders and other decorative pieces. I specialize in meenakari, which is a colorful and vibrant style that truly expresses the beauty of Rajasthan. I am currently working on silver furniture pieces, and for that I need the assistance of more artisans.

"I have participated in few exhibitions that were sponsored by embassies such as the United States, Indonesia, and the British High Commission. It was a great feeling to receive a good response to my work.

"I feel encouraged to be associated with Novica. It is a fantastic platform to showcase my country's wonderful works of art, and to make it possible for everyone in the world to see India's unique artistry."
