Born in the summer of 1969, Beatriz Muñiz majored in communications with a specialty in publicity. After a brief stint as a TV producer, she worked for more than 12 years as an executive in a prestigious international advertising agency. She was always inclined toward the arts, finding satisfaction in its freedom and in the creative process. This led her to study oil painting and later, glass fusion. At the same time, parallel to her career in advertising, she studied computer programs in graphic design and photography.
Today – far from the hectic life of the advertising world – Muñiz expresses her creativity in glass. Discovering its infinite possibilities, she combines a vast range of colors and designs, fused at 750°C (1,388°F). Surprising clarity and exciting forms emerge from the kiln, each one unique.
She finds pleasure in giving reality to the designs she imagines day after day – plates, centerpieces and even jewelry, hand-crafted of fine Peruvian silver. Muñiz creates her pieces to be used and enjoyed. And in her free time, she continues to paint in oils.
"There is nothing more marvelous and motivating than creating something with my own hands," she confides. "And this creation can be shared and enjoyed by others. When I sense the satisfaction my designs cause in others, I feel deeply gratified."
