"I am Daniel Sackey and I was born on 17 March 1983 in Accra. I graduated from A.R.S. Technical Institute in the year 2002. I love to carve traditional masks because they tell so much about Africa and its peoples.
"Mr. Sefah taught me how to carve, and my favorite materials include sese and ofatu wood, aluminum, brass and beads. Now it's my turn to be the teacher, and I have had ten students doing their apprenticeship with me.
"I have faced many challenges in my life, but the most difficult one was when I lost my grandma. She looked after me and guided me through my education. I come from a family of five, and I have two sisters. Other than carving, I enjoy sports, boxing especially.
"In February of 1999 I received the Best Worker Award from Narab Handy Craft Ltd. I have exhibited my work in local exhibitions as well as international trade fairs. My clients are local as well as from other countries.
"My goal for the future is to be recognized amongst the best carvers in Ghana, in Africa, and also in the world!"
