Born on December 1, 1963, Federick Sánchez has worked with silver since he was very young. "I learned silversmith techniques and abilities from my father, who still works with silver," explains Sánchez as he talks about his family heritage. "Silver fascinates me for its shine and its color – both the material itself and the innumerable forms, figures and motifs that can be created with it."
Sánchez expresses his own creativity in picture frames, mirrors for wall and dressing table, jewelry boxes, tea boxes and card holders. For this he utilizes religious icons, pre-Hispanic and colonial images, and he also has a modern line of articles with smooth planes and minimalist lines.
Among the challenges he has set for himself is exporting his works, so as to reveal their Andean cultural roots to the world. Sánchez expresses satisfaction at having established a serious, well-organized workshop and at selling his designs outside Peru.
"Our work is standardized for the highest quality," he says. "These are products crafted by hand."
