"Hi, I'm Janice Rodrigo. I was born May 18, 1969 in Lima. My involvement with design came about in a totally casual way, and I only began designing full time in 2003.
"I was looking for a lamp for my home but I couldn't find what I wanted. So I decided to design one, incorporating
iclla, or small figures of bulls etched in stone. A friend of mine liked it so much that she bought it. I made two more lamps for her, but she sold them to her friends. When I realized my pieces were well received, I decided to dedicate myself professionally to design.
"I'd describe my work as decorative and utilitarian with a contemporary ethnic style. It has been very rewarding as I constantly seek inspiration in Peru's ancient art.
"I strive to transmit the cultural richness of Peru and how it can be fused with contemporary art, because we cannot let our legacy die."
