"I was born in Slovenia and when the war erupted in my country I decided to migrate somewhere where I could find peace. I have been fascinated with Brazil ever since the 1970s, so I came here to fulfill my dream. It is here where I met my future wife, Lenilda Lima. Her support and encouragement guided me into carving my own niche in the world of handicrafts.
"In 1997 I developed a technique for fusing glass, which is like sandwiching together two glass slabs with enamel paints in the middle. I place them in a kiln at 800ÂșC until the glass melts and molds into the desired shape. This procedure results in pieces of unique beauty, and their colors and brightness create a fascinating harmony. I learned on my own and I continue to learn - glass always has something new to teach. I am now experimenting with new forms and types of products, including centerpieces, mirror frames and jewelry.
"I have exhibited my work only in Brazil and Norway so I am very happy to be able to show my work to the rest of the world through Novica.
"Ljubo Jakomin is my full name, but people call me Jak."
