Man Mohan

"Hello! my name is Man Mohan and I come from Uttar Pradesh. I was always amused by the exotic beauty of Indian art and culture. I finished a master's degree in commerce, then assisted my sister in her export company. Twenty-eight years down the line, I have lots of good memories.

"I started my career with my sister. We dealt in handicrafts like brass, jewelry, wooden and metal products to name few. However, as orders started pouring in, it became complicated to handle so many operations. So we concentrated on a single product line – cane. We saw a lot of potential in cane, although working and procuring materials becomes difficult during the monsoon season. However, the joy it gives to see happy people working with us is worth the efforts.

"We are pioneers in combining cane and iron. How we started this is quite interesting and I would like to share it. When we were manufacturing brass wares, a French buyer ordered a huge brass bowl. He wanted a light lid, as the bowl itself was quite heavy and a brass lid would make it even heavier. 'Why not use something like cane or bamboo for the lid?' he suggested. So we did. The design clicked and since than we have been designing and manufacturing cane and metal combinations."
