Born October 28, 1961, Pablo Lostaunau used to live in Lima during the school year, and return home to the Chilca Valley during holidays, where his parents farmed the land as well as worked in handicrafts. Of the two activities, Pablo was most interested in the original sculptures his father created with forged iron.
He remembers how, when he was 11 years old, he had to take lessons in crafting as part of the school's curriculum. The classes were mainly about copper embossing and Lostaunau still recalls the exhilaration that came with the creative process. Soon it became a need to continuously create a variety of objects, so he decided to specialize in this art form and enrolled in the local center for arts and crafts, upon graduation from high school. Though he trained in ceramics and silversmith, it was the latter that appealed to him the most.
His quest for learning lead him to study for a degree in literature and then a post-graduate course took him to Argentina. He lived there for a year, studying as well as working as a silversmith, selling his wares in local markets.
To Lostaunau, his best creation is his daughter Bhakti - she is his source of energy and inspiration. His creative spirit has taken him down different avenues, and now Pablo spends his time between writing and publishing stories and poetry, as well as creating a variety of silver items.
Lostaunau's designs are influenced by pre-historic art, which he views as the origin of art itself. His designs are enriched with his unique sense of style, resulting in pieces of fine artistry, good quality, and contemporary appeal.
