"I'm Márcia, an English teacher by profession, and I have always been doing manual crafts during my free time. Some time ago, when I used to live in Chile and I was looking to make friends and socialize in this new country, I joined a group of women who specialized in patchwork. I fell in love with this type of textile work because I enjoy combining and creating new designs. I believe this experience contributes greatly to my interest in creating bags."
"I'm Lilia, a jewelry designer, always a fashionista. By the time I was seven years old, I was already creating and making new things to dress my dolls. As time passed by I became more interested in clothes and accessories, and I have always worked in this field, either as a buyer or designing and creating pieces.
"I have taken different courses related to this field, and for 18 years I had a studio where I designed and made wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, as well as formal wear. Today I specialize in designing bags, which brings me great pleasure.
"Our story together began in 2006, when we passed the winter holidays in Rio de Janeiro. As we went shopping together, we admired cloth bags in window shops and we loved them! We decided that when we returned home to Minas Gerais, we'd meet up to design and create our own bags. We've been making handbags ever since, but we never get to keep any as people want them as soon as we make them.
"We've designed a line of cloth bags featuring Christ Redeemer and other landmarks from Rio de Janeiro because we both agree that since it all began in Rio, we would like to honor this wonderful city by creating modern and cheerful designs. We hope that when people see our bags, they take home some of this good Brazilian vibe.
"We hope that through Novica we can promote our work by sharing the beauty of Brazil."
