"My name is Sukanya Luangchukiat, but friends and family call me by my nickname, Kob. I was born on 6 September 1972 and I have two younger sisters. My parents divorced and I live with my mother and sisters. I love my family very much, we support each other in everything. Our mother is perfect – she has taken care of us all our lives. My family is very important to me, because if I had not received their love and warmth, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
"As a child, I was introvert. I loved to study and I wanted to become a doctor. However, my parents separated when I was in junior high school and this changed my goal. I could not continue studying high school due to lack of financial support. Therefore, I decided to study at a commercial school during the day, and I worked part-time in fast food restaurants and any other place that would hire. Working and studying at the same time was very disadvantageous. Yet I eventually graduated with a diploma in business administration, majoring of marketing.
"I have been working in a bank ever since, while my mother and youngest sister opened a small restaurant. In the evenings and on holidays, my other sister and I help them in the restaurant. During my spare time, I also handcraft products. I dye T-shirts, make dolls, accessories and jewelry.
"I particularly love making silver earrings. I have fun and am so happy when I design and string jewelry. For now, I try to create simple designs that are different from others. My next collection will be a bit more complex.
"My motto is to do my best today and not annoy others in any way. At present, I am happy with my work and my life in general. I love Thailand's culture and traditions. During festival times, I participate in the ceremonies. I am Buddhist and I often go to the temple, make merits, listen to the dharma and calm my mind. One day I will seriously practice the dharma in a Chiang Mai temple at the beginning of Buddhist Lent. I almost did once, but was too ill to get there on time.
