Ana Berredo

"I've been a professional jeweler and goldsmith since 1974, when I studied in Lausanne, Switzerland. Through the years, I've designed exclusive collections featuring my own artistic tendencies. My work is a constant search for new shapes that I can find in nature and in my own subconscious. My inspiration is the result of an introspective movement, added to my ability to observe all that surrounds me. Everything is a potential suggestion for a new piece - all it takes is for an artist to realize it.

"Much of my jewelry is inspired by seeds, leaves and beans from Brazilian plants. Others are inspired on free shapes and volumes through which I explore the interplay of light and darkness, textures, and the beauty of our precious gems.

"I have held exhibitions in important galleries and cultural centers of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, including the Modern Art Museum.

"I realize the Internet is an important vehicle to divulge artistic work. Presenting my work through Novica for me means an easier way to exhibit my work, as well as welcoming an influx of virtual visitors I had never before imagined. To me, its more important to have the freedom to develop my own exclusive creations than worrying about the commercial aspects."
