"Hi, how are you? I'm Michele French. I was born in the U.S. Jewelry has always been my passion, so I went to Paris to study in the School of Jewelry where I learned the techniques. Afterward, I went to California and enrolled in Pacific University, then went on to study at UCLA. It was there that I continued studying design and craft methods to create jewelry. I specialize in silver. I love it – silver is a very noble metal to work with. Destiny brought me to Mexico where I have lived for a number of years with my family.
"I use a diversity of processes to elaborate my designs. After making a sketch, I then sculpt the piece in clay or wax to see it physically. Depending on the design, I craft it with the lost wax technique, with sheets, cutouts or hammered silver. Some designs are given an oxidized finish. I like to combine silver with gemstones, playing with their natural shapes and capricious colors to give a unique personality to each of the pieces that I craft. Each one of my designs is limited to 100 pieces that carry my signature.
"For me, it's a real delight to create jewelry that is novel and contemporary. When I hold a gemstone in my hands, I can imagine the design that goes with each and every one."
