Born in the state of Huancavelica, Efrain Curi first learned the flat weave technique in his uncle's workshop, in what is a family craft. Finding words to express his thoughts and ideas is difficult for Curi since his first language is Quechua, but he speaks eloquently through his work.
He prefers natural fibers such as wool and cotton tinted with natural and artificial dyes. His tool is the handloom and he usually weaves in the company of his family. The children find it fun to help out, and Curi hopes to eventually teach them all he knows about weaving.
