"Hi, my name is Afroz, I come from the Uttar Pradesh region. My native city is one of the districts famous for producing dhurrie rugs. Almost every third family in the district is dedicated to creating dhurries. My family has been involved in this field for more than 50 years now, so I was naturally inclined to preserve this family legacy.
"I joined the family workshop after graduating with a Bachelors of Arts degree. Our rug designs are based on ancient Mughal or Persian styles. Our work has been showcased in various exhibitions all over the country, and the response has been great. Our dhurries also have an international appeal. The main materials that we use are cotton and wool, and in some cases we subject our dhurries to a distinct herbal wash.
"We are now broadening our scope to include leather rugs. My main objective is to constantly improve and diversify our range of products. My dream is to have my rugs be exhibited and appreciated around the world, and hopefully visit other countries to show the skill and workmanship that goes into each piece."
